SAFETY FIRST
Our Number One Priority
Our objective? Reduce your risk of injury when trying or perfecting freestyle jumps.
IMPORTANT: As with anything in life, unless you don’t get out of bed in the morning, the risk of injury is always present (and people still get injured staying in bed!). Be smart, know your limits.
We maintain our impeccable safety record by only allowing The AirBag to be operated by our trained staff and following a strict operating protocol:
- The AirBag is manned at all times by at least 2 fully trained and friendly AirBag staff, with a 3rd staff member always readily available. One will always be 1st Aid Trained.
- One member of staff mans the drop in and briefs the clients – ensuring only one rider drops at once and that bag has time to re-inflate before the next rider drops. A second member of staff mans The AirBag, ensuring the client dismounts safely, that The AirBag is re-inflating correctly and that all anchor points remain secure.
- Signage at the drop in point states rules, risks and basic tips.
- Fencing ensures that the area is secure and that a single drop in point is maintained.
- Helmets must be worn by all participants.
- No ski poles or broken ski/snowboard edges are allowed.
- First time hitters must always do a straight air.
- Flags are used on either side of the kicker to help ensure straight take offs, and to reduce the risk of early rotated flips and inverts. No carving is allowed on the jump.
- Under 16s require a parent or guardian to sign a waiver before participating (this age limit can be upped to 18 at the discretion of the resort/booking client).
- We are covered by our own Public Liability Insurance
How Does the Airbag Work?
LAND SAFE TECHNOLOGY ™
The AirBag is a multi-chambered unit, designed by engineers and snow enthusiasts. It is manufactured in the UK by experts with over 25 years experience in the inflatables industry. It is powered by 2 separate blowers, which run off a generator/standard power source. It is made of highly durable PVC.
TOP LAYER: Consisting of multiple chambers side by side, each with our unique venting system. On impact, air is released and the rider is brought safely to a stop, even for off-centre landings.
SAFETY (BOTTOM) LAYER: A safety barrier between the rider and the ground. An independent blower keeps this bottom layer fully inflated at all times so it will never ‘bottom-out’.
TOPSHEET: The top and sides of The AirBag are covered with a removable topsheet made of extra durable PVC. A second topsheet is carried by The AirBag crew, so if damaged it can be replaced quickly to minimise delays.
SAFE-DISMOUNT DESIGN: This allows the user to exit The AirBag safely without dropping from the full inflation height
